Description

It's Friday night, BBQ style!

We'll have our normal Friday Night Blitz format: 6 double rounds, G5/d0.

But we'll also serve a BBQ feast, prepared by Charles!

As usual, exact menu TBD, but it will feature one or two smoked or grilled proteins, a couple veggie dishes, a couple starch dishes, and some dessert. Come check out the club's new soft serve ice cream maker!

If you have allergies, dietary restrictions, food preferences, or food requests please indicate them in the "bye requests" section when you register.

Hungry parents, spectators, and non-chess-players can get in on the festivities. Please register for the food-only event.

Doors open a little earlier than usual: 7:15 (with food served). First round starts at 7:45.

Afterwards, what happens, happens.

A note on prizes: these events are often well-attended. If we continue that trend, we'll mimic the Big Money Blitz prize structure: The Open Section includes prizes for 1st/2nd overall and U2100; the U1900 section includes prizes for 1st/2nd in U1900 and U1700, U1500 prizes.

For the total prize fund, we'll return 80% of the entry fees collected (minus food costs) as prizes, in roughly the same proportions as Big Money Blitz.

If either section has insufficient players to stand on its own, we will combine it with the other section.

Although this event is unrated, we will use the higher of your blitz and classical USCF ratings to determined prize eligibility. If you do not have a USCF rating, we will use your performance rating in this event to determine prize eligibility.

Please note, consistent with Boylston chess club policy, if you register for the Open Section, you will not be eligible for U1900 prizes.
